Felted Art Journal with Cindy Alexander (class canceled)

Making an art journal takes on a different approach when we give our imagination free reign. In this class we will start with felt as our blank page. Then combine traditional as well as non traditional materials and let our imaginations soar.

A demo will be given to show students basic wet felting techniques to make felted journal pages. Students will also be shown some other options for pages. Then they will be given prefelted pages to begin embellishing to get their journals started. We will be needle felting, gluing and hand sewing our way through to begin our own special journals, all the while letting our imagination consider the next embellishment to give it that personal touch. Felted beads, paper beads, rusted fabrics, found objects, handspun yarns, silk cocoons, feathers and lace along with other materials will be used to help make our pages come to life.

Options for putting journals together will also be covered.

  • Small and Large Scissors
  • Small Bottle of Aleene’s Tacky Glue or similar glue
  • Sewing Thread and Decorative Threads – e.g. Metallic, Multicolored
