Begining Taravia 101 with Pat Cothran (classes canceled)

The Taravia is an ancient rope making tool designed and used in Egypt over 3000 years ago, and is used today to make everything from fine jewelry cords to heavy lead ropes. This workshop will introduce you to the Taravia, and you’ll take home a necklace cord made from common sewing thread, and a sturdy dog leash (or lead rope) made from basic yarn. With the Taravia, you can make decorative and useful products – belts, hatbands, bracelets – out of raw materials ranging from beautiful yarns and frilly mill ends to simple cording and baling twine! The output can also be woven into rugs or wall hangings. If you have llama, alpaca, or other animal yarn that is less than ideal, or if you want to turn thread, string, and twine into practical items, the Taravia is for
you! Minimum Age for Class:15.  Prerequisite Student Skills:None
